    I spend many months of the year walking and cycling in the pine forests of the Sierras near my hometown of Madrid. This painting is part of a series of summer studies, painted from both reference and memory, trying to evoke the hot, dusty forest trails and the colour of the baked earth. This little mixed media work began with a heavy textured layer to which the oil paint was added. The cradled wood panel has deep sides which are painted ready to hang or place directly on a shelf.
